This 1989 Sam Newton Florida Highwaymen Painting was painted while my mom and I watched. Here is the first hand story: my mom and I took an amazing vacation and drove from Portland Oregon to Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach Florida. On our first day in Florida, we went to the beach. We saw Sam Newton sitting working on this painting. He had another one finished and sitting on the side that looked very similar. My mom fell in love with it, and asked how much he would charge.
He told her that he would be finished with the painting and it would be ready in a few days. He told her that he would have them both wrapped up in paper to keep them safe for our journey home. You can still see the brown paper under the staples on the back of both paintings. These paintings have both been hanging in my moms house since 1989. She has required care in her later years, and has since moved in with my family. When she found out that Sam Newton was a collectible artist, she asked me to put these paintings up for a vacation fund.
The proceeds of the sale, or the sale of the other Newton painting will go towards an awesome last vacation for the both of us. There is a small white spot shown in the last pic that appears to something stuck on, but it doesnt look to be paint loss.
It was on moms wall... I have no idea what it was, or if it was always there. It comes to you just as seen in pics, with brilliant sunset colors. I will carefully wrap your painting, just as carefully as Sam Newton wrap them for my mom. In the frame, the painting measures 19 1/2 x 15 1/2.
