Fantastic composition by Robert Saint-Cricq depicting a still life with clams, mussels, and lemons on tabletop. This is a fine example of Saint-Cricq's paintings in great condition for its age, and with a nice provenance label. Robert Saint-Cricq begins by practicing the oil painting, then, after having discovered an important allergy to it, turns to the collage of paper, then objects of recovery.

Saint-Cricq collects debris, objects worn by time and men, discarded or proposed in the bric-a-brac trade fairs: dilapidated sculptures, dislocated dolls, wheels and targets pierced with holes, characters cut, pieces of wood, pieces of metal, old tools and an infinity of other objects just as unusual to compose his universe. He gathers the objects according to their hidden correspondence but detected by his artistic sensibility. Then he fixes them with spikes, raises them or covers them sometimes with paint. Sometimes a drawing completes an object, not without humor. The works thus created, true icons loaded with intimate poetry, open onto a dreamlike world participating in the marvelous childhood. In 1964, Robert Saint-Cricq joined the Group of Amandiers. Founded by his workshop neighbors Claude Malherbe. 100% Guaranteed to be as described.
